Privacy Awareness Week – Asia Pacific

Each year the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) promotes Privacy Awareness Week.  The APPA has Privacy regulators from 20 locations as members, including Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, and the latest member, the Philippines National Privacy Commission.

Privacy Awareness Week has been held every year since 2006 to promote and raise awareness for numerous privacy issues and the importance of protecting personal information. As a part of Privacy Awareness Week, members hold a variety of different events and undertake various activities for individuals, businesses and government organisations. This year, each APPA member will be nominating a week in May 2017 to celebrate Privacy Awareness Week.

In Australia, the Office of Australian Information Commissioner promotes Privacy Awareness Week Partners that show their support for good privacy practices. This year, First Advantage has signed up as Privacy Awareness Week Partner to indicate to the community that we take our privacy obligations seriously.
