ASIC Banned & Disqualified Register
The Australian Securities Investment Commission (ASIC) is Australia’s corporate, markets and financial services regulator.
First Advantage conducts a search of ASIC’s Banned and Disqualified Register which lists individuals disqualified from managing corporations, individuals banned from holding an AFS licence, as well as banned securities or futures representatives.
This search is recommended for all senior level appointments, roles providing financial advice, and securities and futures representatives.
It is important to note that ASIC will only list persons who are disqualified from managing corporations under the Corporations Act 2001 where an express notification of the disqualification has been received by ASIC. An individual may also become disqualified from managing an organisation if they have been convicted of an offence involving dishonesty, or become bankrupt. Relevant police and bankruptcy checks are encouraged to support this check.
